Black Generations (Print)
Shot by Cara Elise Taylor in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, this image is a snapshot of the culminating event of Black History Month in Costa Rica: Dia Del Negro. For an entire day, there’s a parade that showcases and celebrates Blackness, history, and community. The descendants of African Slaves and Jamaican migrants put on a festival that puts a spotlight on the beauty of being Afro-Latinx and the impact that Africans have had on the Caribbean and Latin America.
This image was displayed as part of WITNESS, an exhibition of Black Women artists that began in Los Angeles, and traveled to TED Women in Atlanta and Photoville Fest in Brooklyn.
