Visual impairment and blindness increase with age, and the number of people with visual impairments is expected to greatly increase as the population of older adults is growing. Vision loss can increase risk of falls, depression, and generally affect quality of life. Cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma are the most common types of visual impairments among older adults. These images depict the different forms these disorders can take, to provide an idea of what it is like to see through their eyes.
