Movement
Issue No. 6: Food, Nutrition, and Access in Our Communities
Photography + Words - Justine Brown, Founder & Owner of Vegan Justine
Vegan Justine was created to show that veganism can be easy and affordable. Somewhere along the lines, I fell in love with food photography and it grew into a passion. I still enjoy sharing easy and affordable recipes, but I also enjoy focusing on how appealing the photos of my food are. It became extremely important to me that everything I put out involving Vegan Justine appeared as mouth watering as it was. The more I created, the more I wanted to improve. I took a photography class with Leslie Starobin, and that class was the reason I got this amazing photo. We were assigned to take a photo that represented movement. I took movement pictures that didn’t involve food and didn’t feel confident enough in them. The night before my assignment was due, I told my mom to stay up late to help my get some action shots (that’s her hand in the picture!). The photos were stunning and I couldn’t believe that I took them at first. My love for food photography has grown tremendously, and I’m extremely appreciative of all the support I’ve received on my instagram (VeganJustine), and every opportunity I get to share my work with others.
