Listen: 'My Sexuality is Mine to Keep' by Shreya Tomar — Featuring a Painting by Anastasia Dzhupina
About The Speaker
Shreya Tomar is a passionate undergraduate psychology student at NYU. She is interested in using her knowledge of developing and implementing core mental well-being plans, particularly relating to sex and relationships. She is also eager to excel in a fast-paced environment through informational and creative writing using media platforms.
“Most of us were never taught that our sex lives have to be customized and reflect our personal desires. Thus, I aim to identify the gaps in communication in varied sexual situations and empower people to explore their authentic sexualities. My bisexuality, my Indian heritage, and my high sexual drive have often worked against me as I tried to openly talk about my sexuality. It has been challenging yet educative to steer through the cultural stereotyping, understand the orgasm gap, and attend to the slut-shaming. These experiences have molded into motivations for advocating thriving sexualities.”
