Artist Spotlight on Illustrator, Amber Vittoria

A white woman with long brown hair looking off. She's wearing a grey shirt in front of framed illustrations.

Amber Vittoria is creating a body of work that presents a new take on the feminine mystique. Her work on the female-form and its societal taboos can be viewed alongside our piece on proper exercise for a healthy heart in Issue No. 2: Matters of the Heart, which focused on geriatric health and aging. We asked the talented New York artist about her self-care practices and how she stays healthy:

What’s your favorite self care practice?
Sleep is so helpful for me; the amount of sleep varies per person (according to my doctor when I worriedly asked them why I need at least 9 hours of sleep), and when I can sleep longer, I try to; I always feel more refreshed for it.

What is your favorite healthy food or recipe?
I love bananas, strawberries, and yogurt - so a combination of those things is always wonderful.

Who has taught you the most in life so far?
A combination of my parents and grandmother; their belief in me, their ability to help me through tough decisions, and their wisdom is an incremental part in my overall growth as a person.

What are your healthy living goals?
I love cardio exercise (walking, cycling). Since I have the cards stacked against me in regards to cardiovascular health as I age, I like to keep my heart as active as possible while I still can.
