'The Things They Carry' — Illustrations by Monika Jurczyk for 'Like the Wind' Magazine

Scotland based artist and illustrator, Monika Jurczyk, brings vibrant visuals depicting the many experience’s of women in Issue #41 of Like the Wind magazine. Tackling subjects that have long been considered taboo—menstruation, IVF, and miscarriage. These deeply personal and often unspoken experiences are finally taking center stage in mainstream conversations, and Jurczyk brings them to life in her work.

The article explores how these themes impact women at different life stages, sharing how the most productive years for many people often coincide with childbearing and career growth.

By shedding light on these topics, Like the Wind and Jurczyk’s artwork contribute to a growing movement—one that empowers women to share their experiences openly and unapologetically through illustration and storytelling.

The below images were published in the first women's special edition of Like the Wind running magazine. Issue #41 featured running stories by women, about women – but for everyone.
