This holiday season, you have a choice: you can skip the consumerism altogether, or you can support small, Black-owned businesses creating beautiful, unique, and thoughtful products. These shops aren’t just good for the planet —they’re great for your wallet too.

It’s super easy (almost too easy) to default to Amazon, but supporting local makers and small business owners is what community is all about. This year, make it count. Be a part of something bigger.

We’ve rounded up our favorite Black-owned markets, shops, and fashion houses for you to explore. Whether you visit in person or shop online, you’ll discover incredible products with purpose and style. Let’s make this holiday season one of impact and connection.

Reparations Club

Books are always a win for holiday gifting, and Reparations Club is the perfect spot to find them. This Black-owned, woman-owned concept bookshop and creative space in Los Angeles is curated by Blackness and built for community.

Step inside, and you’ll feel like you’re in the living room of “a very cool friend”—a vibe that owner Jazzi McGilbert, an L.A. native, has perfected since opening the space in 2019.

From thought-provoking books to unique gifts, Reparations Club is more than a bookstore—it’s a cultural hub. Whether you shop online or visit in person, this is one Black-owned business you don’t want to miss this Black Friday.

Whether you’re shopping for bold fashion pieces or curated home goods, Sincerely, Tommy is where style meets culture and innovation. If you can’t visit in person, their online shop delivers the same fresh energy straight to your door.

Marché Rue Dix

If you’re in Brooklyn, a visit to Marché Rue Dix in Crown Heights is non-negotiable. Nestled next to their acclaimed French-Senegalese restaurant, Café Rue Dix, this Black-owned concept store is a feast for the senses—and your wardrobe.

Step inside and you’ll be captivated by chic checkered floors, curated displays featuring globally celebrated designers, and the warm, transportive scent of traditional Senegalese incense (thiouraye). From clothing inspired by Dakar’s vibrant fashion to unique home goods, every item tells a story.

While you can shop online, nothing beats the experience of visiting in person. At Marché Rue Dix, you’ll feel connected, comforted, and inspired. This Black Friday, skip the crowds and shop with meaning.
